PAWS - a Spay/Neuter Project

This is FREE to the qualifying public, thanks to the Keller Canyon Grant! FFFR doesn't have a veterinary hospital, so spay/neuter surgeries are done at a low-cost veterinary clinic. 

To Be eligible:

  • Must be a resident of Bay Point, Pittsburg or Antioch, CA 

  • Qualify as low income based on current HUD guidelines,

  • or Qualify as a senior citizen 55 plus,

  • or Discharged Veteran with a valid DD-214

  • Have a companion dog or cat over the age of two (2) months and under the age of ten (10) years old

  • Have a companion dog or cat who is not currently pregnant 

  • Male puppies testicles must be descended

  • IF you do not meet the qualifications, we can offer you services at low cost.

 

How to Qualify for Hands helping Paws:

  1. If you meet the above criteria, please fill out the application , by coming-into our office, Monday, Tues, Thursday or Friday from 1-5pm.  Hours may vary w/o notice as we are a volunteer run organization.  Your application will not be processed without the following qualifying documentation.  We are located at 516 W. 2nd Street, Antioch

  2. The program is a low income, senior (55 +) and/or veteran qualified program, please send in their proof of income, CADL, and/or DD-214,  with your contact information to FFFR.  This income includes all members of the household.  This proof of income can be: a current pay stub, social security receipt, disability letter or stub.

  3. Once your qualifying documents have been received, a HHP volunteer will contact you to set up your pet(s) appointment:

  4. A  HHP volunteer will provide you with the following information:

    • The rules/regulations of the program (approximate extra cost for exams, NO in-heat animals, NO procedures for pregnant animals, NO coverage for vaccinations, micro-chip and other procedures)

    • Additional costs that may be charged to the client by the vet (range of fees and any special charges required by the individual vets of which we are aware). HHP always recommends that a client contact the veterinary hospital directly to go over additional costs.  HHP is not responsible for add ons that the client may want.

  5. *Please note:  Any other charges are to be paid according to the vet’s policies.
